When you find the book in the library catalog, there are two ways to tell whether or not the book is available. If you have used a general search, there will be two numbers after the campus location of the book (1/0). The first number is the number of copies of that item held at that location. The second number is the number of those copies that are checked out.  In this example Fauquier campus library owns one copy that is not checked out so it should be available.

Catalog Item Status Indicator

Additionally, by clicking on the campus location link of the item, which will take you to the Holdings page for the item, you will see the status of the book under the due date column. On Shelf or Reshelving mean that the item is available for checkout. A date or Lost in the due date column indicate that the material is not available for checkout.
