Use of an entire book, journal, video or CD is generally not within the principles of fair use, unless it is in the public domain or part of the Library's licensed resources. Otherwise, faculty members must obtain copyright permissions from the publisher in order to include a complete work in Canvas, or another password-protected course web page.

As an alternative, the library will place books, videos, DVDs and CDs on reserve at the library for course use. If there is any doubt in your mind whether or not what you want to do is considered fair use, please contact David Gray (dgray@laurelridge.edu), Whitney Nelsen (wnelsen@laurelridge.edu), or Kerry Kilpatrick (kkilpatrick@laurelridge.edu) with your questions. As a general rule, it is always better to ask for permission than to get caught violating someone’s copyright.
